Some New Tags Coming Soon!

I consider myself as a tomboy. I like short hair and boy's toys as well as games, anime and manga. Don't get me wrong, I love barbies, plush toys and play cooking as a kid, even though I don't cook at all as an adult. However, according to my mother, cars, gadgets, electronics, games, anime, manga and action movies are for boys. Us girls must watch chick-flicks, play housewife and barbies, wear frilly clothes and all girls stuffs.

I can't help it, you know?

I read manga most of my past time. No matter when I am not busy in the office or at home.

I also have my love on Otome games. 25 and playing games? But hey! Otome games are special. They are games targeted for women who adore fantasy romance. My romance life is quite boring..... Did you read this, honey? Haha! It was not just a joke... *scratching my head*

Anywaaaayyyyy......... I try to juggle my personal, work and leisure life. But this is what life is. No times to complain! LoL!

So for the love of my favorite past times, I will be making posts with the 'JayOtaku' tag about manga, anime and Otome games. I will also me making a Otaku Glosary as a guidelines... just to make my blog a bit livelier.. ekekeke

Oh! of course! I will also be making posts about and reviews on electrical gadgets. Look for 'GeekyJay' sooooooonnn~

The J's Wedding: Jessica & Jell

The Waris-Edwin-Balandong Family or WEB for short, have been holding a tradition. Every time one of us is getting married, for sure, every one will get involve to make the event happen. We got hui* beer, we got helping hands in the kitchen department, tangkap/sembelih/potong karabau department, event decoration department, petals throwing department, bar keepers department, etc. I have been involve in every cousins and aunts & an uncles wedding. But this self-pampered girl, JV Ong, had never been such eager and helped with my all force as I have ever have done for my favorite cuzzy, Jessica.

I have never help to make a wedding this much that can effect me to want to have a marriage reception myself. Oh no... It's not that I change my view of marriage as a whole, I just want the reception only. Hah! What a laugh!

Anyway, I believe my name was not really on the list in the planning process. Since the bride is not only a favorite cuzzy, well all of my cuzzies are my fav anyway, she is also a best friend and a great confidante (what an exquisite position, I must say.), I would never say no when she approached me and personally ask for my help. Hello!? Like I can say no to her. She asked me to help her in decoration for the wedding arch and backdrop, cakes and champagne as well as some small details for flower arrangement.

Of course I do not do it alone. I was not even the leader of the department, just a helper to give opinion s and ideas to the decor leader as I have almost the same taste with the bride when it comes to decors. Since I am not good in the kitchen department, and I swear that I don't have the fine talent like my mom have other than savoring meal, I can contribute my part in other process.

I was glad how the reception went so great despite all the cancellation and replacement for this and that. Things went smoothly beyond any expectation. As a family member, I am proud for the effort my family had done. Stress? Yes! But it is all worth it.
The backdrop on the stage with the help of the ever talented and creativity of our Datin.
We even joked about wanting to make our very own wedding decor company.
Hah! Who knows! One of our members might willl!
The banner on the backdrop! Thanks to cuzzy Rayner for that!

The beautiful decor for the table for wedding cakes!
Well done Datin~
Sample made on the eve f the reception.
On the day of the reception. The band was doing sound checking.
Everything went good~
Ayu on the stage to sing. Mother of 3 with that body, don't you get jealous?
The groom sings before giving a speech of thanks.
Poco2 dance is still very popular in Paparians wedding.
Paparian AND Pitas peeps dance Bandau's sumazau dance.
The super adorable flower girl - my niece, fyi.
Jessica didn't use this but I love it so much, I HAVE TO TAKE PICTURE OF IT!

If anyone who have family or friends that got married to or is actually a Paparian, make sure to check out the Masak Kava or Masak Kawah. It is a traditional dish, sup Kerbau tu jo, before it ran out! Jessica & Jell's Masak Kava is THE BEST! Like the Lobo said, OPOTOH! Oh! yg ada gaut tu jaga2. I am on diet as well, so it is sad that I have to make sure that I held in the temptation to sauk more.

Next agenda? 4 November in Bandau for Jessica & Jell's Babad. (Babad is a Kadazan word to describe the wedding reception for the grooms family.) The bride asked me to assist her there and I am delighted to say yes. I can say a easy NO to anyone but her. Why not? Mata dia basar, bikin takut. wakakakakaka!

Can't wait for Bandau!

Did you know?
In early American weddings Victorian brides
wear gloves with their wedding gowns
because they symbols of modesty and romance.
Take the 'g' away and you have a 'pair of loves'.

Comparing Two Different People Is Not Being Nice

Soooooo.... I went back to my maternal home town the other day for a niece's full moon party.

It was like the first time I got to parade my slimmer self to my maternal relatives. I was happy being compliments and encouragement to loose more weight. I was obese few months back and recently able to loose a lot of unnecessary kilos. I am still overweight according to my Body Mass Index (BMI). But able to turn from an obese beast to overweight troll is enough to make me happy.

Of course there are no words of hate or undermine are being thrown on me. But there was one voiced out that my body is nice enough and there is no need to loose more. I am flattered by the comments but insisted that my doctor told me to loose more to a healthy weight. Having an unflattering family medical history force me to determine and follow my doctor's order. But when the voice start say "macam si...". In a sense, the voice was comparing me to another person. DING! an off-switch was pushed at the back of my mind and I stop listening. But kept that smile, which I know for sure didn't reach my eyes.

I am not angry or hating the voice as the voice is actually one of the person I love. I just can't help to wonder why does people like to compare a person to another one? I understand if I were to be compared to my twin, which I don't have either, but being compared to another person actually hurt...... a lot.

The other person and I have different body and body types, different face and facial structure, different height and skin tone, different name and parents, etc. But we are related and are very close with each other. She is a beautiful woman, not graceful but very fun to be with and extremely good with my dark humor. I was flattered that the voice choose her as a comparison subject but still, the twitching in my achy heart continued.

Since young, I live my life hearing things like:-
- you should be more like her/im.
- dress nicely and girly like her.
- you look better with long/short hair. Like her/im.
- your skin are just darker than her/im.
- you should treat your skin like cashmere. Like she does.
- wear makeup like her.
- you should go to a nice U/college. Like her/im

and it goes on and on and on.....

Can't we live our life like the way we want, live like how we want and have our own path of life instead of 'like her/im'?

Can't we just stop the comparison for a day and live a life without scrutinizing pressure?

Nope! We will always live in a society where we would be compared to a relative, brothers, sisters, friends, celebrities or even strangers.

Oh people who have been complicating my path of life, can't you just make this little world of your opinionated space around me a little simpler? I am such a blonde, I can't understand if you are being sarcastic, nice of just plain meanie moe.

The voice was being nice with her compliments and telling me to stop dieting. I know she don't want me to get overboard with my diets. I get that. And I also get that she did not aware that comparing a person to another one is actually not nice. But whatever.... I'm over it already.

Life is much better when you stop thinking of the negative and blog about it. At least for me lah~

Did you now?
